Now that the dashboard civer is finally covered in carbob fibre decals, the dash can be completed. In this post I have some photos of the dash and some other subassemblies.
Dashboard (from Section 1)
For the dashboard, I have a bunch of photos, showing how the dash is built up from the painted metal part, with carbon fibre and other decals, and into the finished assembly. The photos are from my previous attempt and show:
- 1 (top left) – The dashboard (part M35) is painted black, with a gloss clear coat. On some features (which will later be white or clear colours) I have rubbed off the paint with thinners. The CF decals are cut out. One was damaged and I made a spare.
- 2 (top right) – Any features (switches, etc) that will end up as semi-gloss are hand painted.
- 3 (bottom left) – Carbon fibre decals are applied.
- 4 (bottom right) – All of the MFH decals are applied. A semi-gloss clear coat is applied over the whole piece.
And the finished dashboard, with the lamps parts hand painted, and all parts assembled:
That dashboard – from my earlier attepted build – has since been trashed for parts. The completed rebuild is shown below, as part of the assembled dashboard and cover. This version of the dashboard has a few extra pieces of CF, and little white triangle decals on the dials.
Front Radiator Housing (Section 3)
This large assembly is the front radiator mount, the radiator itself plus a small airfoil and the forward mounts for the front brake ducts. Once again, lots of carbon fibe decals.
Sidepods, Cockpit Floor (Section 10)
These assemblies come from Section 10, and include major pieces that sit atop the side pods – the radiator (oil cooler?) on the left, and the air intake and airbox cover on the right. The lid of the airbox cover is removable, although its shown in place in the photo. The third item is the front cockpit floor with the pedals in place.
And some others…
Some smaller, random pieces – the muffler and exhaust tip (Section 5), and some rear suspension parts (mostly brakes, from Section 11).
And some more that I forgot to include previously: the rear brake ducts, with the lower half in carbon fiber; fuel (I think) and return pipes; the oil filler (??), with some weld bead details added (and missing the filling port at the top, for now).
